GRAVITY defying displays and car crushing spectacles were in full throttle at a monster truck event over the weekend.

More than 1,500 people flocked to Monster Trucks Live at the Suffolk Academy, in Barrow, on Saturday to marvel at four of the giant-sized vehicles competing in drag races, crushing cars and ripping a car clean in half in a tug of war.

There were also aerial displays by motorcycle team Broke FMX.

It was the debut event organised by company of the same name, Monster Trucks Live.

Greg McNair, who owns the business with Amelia Benion, said: “It was epic and one of the truck drivers said we were in their top five of events they’ve done this year.”
