STOWMARKET Concert Band celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday with a Music and Memories concert.
The band, which was originally set up in 1962 as the Stowmarket Schools Concert Band, invited members past and present to join in the celebration.
More than 200 people crammed into the town’s United Reformed Church for the performance with more than 25 former members returning to Stowmarket to mark the special day.
Committee member Polly Sinclair said the band had 13 past players re-join for the concert.
She said: “We did have one guy come and play who hadn’t played an instrument for 37 years.
“He even came back on Monday to practice with us again – we are hoping he will continue to play with us.
“It reminded people that we still have a really successful band here in Stowmarket and the same things people were doing 40 or 50 years ago are still going on today.”
