Lineup for the Dubliners' Legend Show at Abbey Fest 2013

Lineup for the Dubliners' Legend Show at Abbey Fest 2013

This year’s Abbeyfest opens with a terriffic three acts which will draw the crowds this July.

Members of the legendary celtic band The Dubliners will be bringing The Dubliners’ Legend show to the Abbey Gardens on July 19 along with Chas and Dave and the Kate Rusby Band.

The Dubliners celebrated 50 years on the road last year and received a lifetime achievement special award in the BBC Folk Awards.

Following the sudden death of founding member Barney McKenna and John Sheahan’s decision to retire the band decided to end its touring days.

However The Dubliners’ Legend show features Sean Cannon, Eamonn Campbell, Patsy Watchorn and Gerry O’Conner who have 60 years of performing with the band between them and who will be performing the iconic songs from the band’s lifetime. This is their only summer UK festival appearance.

Rusby is making a few carefully selected appearances bringing her engaging Yorkshire wit and magical singing to the opening night.

Chas and Dave have won over audiences of young and old during their career which began back in the 70s and their songs including Rabbit and Gertcha have become household names.

The three larger than life acts will kick off the three nights of live music making this the third year of Abbeyfest success.

The event runs July 19, 20 and 21. Tickets are available from Balaam’s Music 01284 766933 (in person), The Apex 01284 758000 or Theatre Royal 01284 769505 or the box office on 01603 508050 or www.ueaticketbookings.co.uk
