BURY ST EDMUNDS Air cadets have completed an arduous expedition to the Peak District as young people completed their gold and silver Duke of Edinburgh awards.
Some 15 cadets and seven staff were tasked to locate and gather information on aircraft crash sites during the week long trip.
The cadets began at Snake Pass navigating the Pennine Way and climbing up to walk along Rushup Edge which offered fantastic views of the Vale of Edale.
On day three, the group managed to locate the wreck of a Wellington bomber but the weather worsened and the group’s training was put into practice to navigate the steep water filled paths back to camp.
There is an open evening about the cadets on September 11 at the TA centre in Newmarket Road at 7.45pm.
