Band Spotlight: Kunk

After releasing a new single, this band have shot to fame on a top radio station and are now hoping to go one step further.

Kunk released their single We're Not Who You Think We Are in February and have since had their music played on XFM Radio.

The Norwich band got a new line-up two-and-a-half years ago and have been gigging hard ever since.

Kunk is made up of drummer Will Marshall, 24, bassist and vocalist Hannah Veale, 26, both from Norwich, as well as brothers James, 27, and Wayne Davey, 28, from Bungay, who play guitar and vocals.

The band, who have just finished a tour across the UK, including Lancaster, Southampton, Cardiff and London, are now preparing to play at Plug It In! at Studio 3, in Bury St Edmunds.

Will, who grew up in Bury alongside the influences of local bands like Miss Black America, said: "The theory is the more places we play, the more people that see us and the reaction from the single has been really good. We have even had a couple of random bands saying they have heard our single.

"We have played once before at Studio 3 and that was a good night, so this should be a good one. The best thing about us is that we just love playing music and that's why we do it."

Since having their single played on XFM Radio, the band have been invited back to record four of their tracks live in the studio at the beginning of April. These will then be played out across the nation.

On the back of the single, they are planning to record an album soon called Late Night Soap Box with a mix of their sounds – which they describe as fun rock with a grungy sound, something for everyone.

They are also holding out to go on an even bigger tour in the next few months with some hidden secrets.
