Band Spotlight: BurySOUND Heat 2

Fresh-faced bands and their innovative new sounds are set to rock for BurySOUND 2008.

Selective Walk, Beneath the Inferno, Nevermind Tomorrow and Solstice will all be competing in the band competition during the second heat.

The winners will then compete in the finals along with heat one winners and the band who receive the most audience votes. You'll be able to vote for your favourite at the Bury Free Press website – www.buryfreepress.co.uk

Beneath The Inferno have been together for two years, playing a host of metal songs at gigs in the region.

Members include vocalist Jack Akehurst, guitarist Sean Guihan, guitarist Ant Cash, drummer Dan Hope and bassist Stevie Grognet.

Selective Walk, an indie alternative band, all met at school and use their music to describe issues which teenagers tackle in everyday life.

The band have previously won the audience vote at the Haverhill Rock competition, so will be sure to please the crowd with their performance.

The band members are lead vocalist and guitarist Tony Trott, guitarist Michael Cockayne, drummer Ben Brennan and back vocalist and bassist David Clarke.

Last, but not least, the fourth band in the second heat are Solstice, who have previously been featured in Band Spotlight as an alternative indie band.

The band, made up of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Lee Hull, lead guitarist and keyboard player Callum Hull, bassist Anthony Andrews and drummer and keyboard player Steven Marsh, are named after the summer solstice and have already played gigs across the region.

Nevermind Tomorrow, who were due to compete, withdrew late last week and a replacement band will be announced shortly.

The second heat of BurySOUND is at the Corn Exchange, in Bury, on October 31. Doors open at 7.15pm, tickets cost 4 and are available from Hardcore Hobbies or Sounds Plus, in Bury.
