Band spotlight: Luv Dump

This punk band have already made an impression on the music scene – even if it is because the bassist has been known to play in his underwear.

Although the members of Luv Dump all went to school in Thurston, it was only in August 2007 when they realised their potential.

The guys felt there was a lack of punk bands in Bury St Edmunds, so just a few weeks later they had their first band practice in Great Livermere Village Hall.

During that one session they managed to bash out three songs and, just a short while later, got their first gig at Studio 3, in Bury.

They are now working on the artwork of their first EP which they hope will be out by the end of July.

Jake Leppard, who plays bass, said: "We just work really well together and we all have the right personalities."

Other members of the punk, ska and reggae band include vocals Chris Staples, guitarist and vocals Dave Long, guitarist Mat Hoffden and drummer Aaron Boast.

The group have a lot of plans for the future as they are starting to put on their own gig nights for people who prefer punk to indie.

Luv Dump are also travelling to Amsterdam at the beginning of August with Bald Monkey Promotions and are planning to make a short tour out of it also going to Rotterdam, Lille, Brussels and Bruge.

Dave said: "We try and interact with the crowd as much as we can. We just have a laugh because we love what we are doing."
