Band Spotlight: Claw of Panther

Heavy rock and roll band Claw of Panther are gearing up for their most important gig yet when former chart hits A descend on Norfolk.

The four-piece – who take their inspiration from 1950s acts such as Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry, and punk rock heroes The Bronx and Gallows – will be supporting the band's comeback show at The Marquee, in Norwich, on November 25.

Featuring Adam King on vocals and guitar, and Lowestoft musicians Rich Trigg on guitar, James Deary on bass and Gaz Trice on drums, Claw of Panther formed earlier this year and quickly set to work writing and recording some demo tracks.

Adam, who lives in Norwich and works at Diss recording studio The Mill, previously played in CTHRU27 with Rich, but he feels he has finally found his feet with the latest project.

He said: "Claw of Panther is definitely more my thing. Before I was playing bass and I wasn't particularly a driving force behind the songs.

"It took a while for us to gel with each other and for me to get used to fronting the band so I did some acoustic shows by myself, mainly to build my confidence and get out there in front of people."

Since forming, the band have played gigs in London and across East Anglia, and headlined the alternative stage at B-Fest, in Burston, near Diss, in September.

Saturday (oct 31) saw them performing in fancy dress as dead pilots for a Halloween show in Norwich, and meanwhile the four are working hard to get as many more gigs as possible – while they are also planning a limited EP with some of the tracks they have already recorded.

"We're really excited about supporting A," said Adam. "Next year we're hoping to go into a studio and do some more recording, and the plan is just to keep writing, recording and gigging.

"At the moment we're really focused on trying to make each gig better than the last – we're all competent musicians but we want to put on a show for people."
