TOP chefs gave French cooking tips at a fund-raising evening and, voila – raised more than £3,000.

Four chefs from award-winning restaurants in Suffolk held the cookery demo to raise money for a local theatre.

Regis Crepy, a leading chef and restaurateur in East Anglia, hosted the event at the Quay Theatre, in Sudbury, on September 5.

The chefs cooked a number of new French-inspired recipes as well as traditional dishes for people to recreate at home. They also had a mayonnaise competition, which was won by the Ipswich Mariners chef Frederic Lebrun.

All money raised from the event went to the Quay Theatre.

Regis Crepy, owner of Bury St Edmunds restaurant Maison Bleue, Mariners, in Ipswich, and The Great House, in Lavenham, said: “We were delighted to have an opportunity to cook together and raise money for this delightful theatre as well as launch their new season. We do hope guests enjoyed the evening and are inspired to try some of the dishes themselves.”

Frederic Lebrun, Pascal Canevet, head chef at Maison Bleue, and Enrique Bilbault and Noemie Lemale, from The Great House, joined Regis on stage.
