Champion skate by Christopher

TOP roller skater Christopher Fox, who is ninth in the world for his age and junior British champion, gave young hopefuls an insight into the sport on Saturday in Bury St Edmunds at one of the first events arranged by a new club.

Ironically, Christopher, 17, from Ipswich, had been taught from his first days as a young skater at the age of 10 by coaches Ashley and Angela Moore, from Elmswell, who will run the new Bury St Edmunds Roller Skating Club at Bury Leisure Centre with sessions on different days to cater for everyone from beginners to those with greater skills, aimed at ages five to 12 years old.

A number of youngsters who attended the event, which included a Christmas party, were children of parents who had themselves had been taught to skate by Ashley and Angela when they coached at the former Rollerbury.
