I am writing about the recent revelation that our new chief executive for Suffolk County Council is to receive the possible grand sum of £220,000 per annum.
Lucky Andrea Hill may possibly be paid more than Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

This is absolutely ridiculous and I know I’m not alone in these thoughts.

I am wondering what Andrea Hill’s new job description is and what a day in the life of the chief executive for Suffolk County Council actually entails.

I am payed one tenth of this quoted salary, as a nurse, on an extremely busy ward, within West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds.

Nursing is not without its stress and is a physically and mentally challenging job in many ways. I love my job, it gives me great satisfaction and I have no intention of leaving it to pursue a career at Suffolk County Council as its chief executive.

All I ask is for Andrea Hill to explain why she thinks this post deserves the large wage quoted.

Speak up Andrea Hill, we are listening – albeit you are not to blame.

My opinion is this position should carry a figure of less than £50,000 per annum.

Lorna Bluett,
