Town nightclub seeks to extend opening hours

A NIGHTCLUB in Bury St Edmunds town centre plans to extend its opening hours.

Vision, on Station Hill, has applied to St Edmundsbury Borough Council to stay open until 2am on Wednesday and Sunday, 4am on Thursday and 4.30am on Friday and Saturday.

Bosses also want to remove lapdancing conditions as they no longer want to hold such activities at the club.

Manager Nic Chaplin said: “We’re planning on extending our opening hours to be in keeping with the rest of the town.

“People are buying alcohol from the supermarket now and coming out later so we’ve lost time early on and need to make up on an evening.

“Alongside that we’re putting in a lot of conditions that have been agreed with the police beforehand to make the venue safer.

“We’re extending our CCTV and working with the police closer.”

Representations on the application can be made to the authority until November 24.

They can be made in writing to the attention of the licensing services manager at the council.

The plans can be viewed at St Edmundsbury Borough Council, at West Suffolk House, in Western Way, Bury or visit www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk
