Public asked for views on growth proposals
RESIDENTS are to be given the chance to air their views on plans which detail how growth will be managed in Bury St Edmunds over the next 20 years.
A public consultation on a draft of Vision 2031 will be launched by St Edmundsbury Borough Council with an event at The Apex, in Bury, on February 29.
The proposals will see thousands of homes built across Bury as well as the creation of new services and jobs.
The residential developments include about 900 homes in North-west Bury, 500 for Moreton Hall, 450 in Westley plus 1,250 each in North-east and South-east Bury.
The document also addresses themes such as jobs and economy, travel, crime and safety, infrastructure and services, health and well being and education.
Views will be sought over two months and the responses will help form the final draft of the document, which will be published later this year. The final draft will be subject to another consultation before St Edmundsbury submits it to the Secretary of State for an independent examination.
Separate draft Vision documents have been prepared for the Rural Area and Haverhill. A launch consultation event for the Rural Area is due to be held on March 1 in Horringer.
