Pub gets romantic ahead of big day
Staff and drinkers at the Elms Inn, Mortonhall can buy a heart for 1 and write a message on it and have it on show at the pub.
THERE is something in the air on Moreton Hall and pub landlady Georgina Barnes thinks it is love.
Since last Monday hearts have started going up at the Ember Inn, in Lawson Place, and an increasing number can now be seen dangling from the pub’s beams and ceiling.
“It’s putting a smile on people’s faces in Moreton Hall – love is in the air,” said Mrs Barnes.
For a £1 donation to St Nicholas Hospice Care, up until Valentine’s Day customers can buy a love heart to write a message on and hang in the pub for all to see.
One such heart on display contains a marriage proposal while others are sweet messages between couples or from secret admirers and light-hearted messages between pub regulars.
“People look at them and read them, it’s a good talking point,” said Mrs Barnes.
The love hearts have proved so successful that the Moreton Hall pub is planning similar events for Mother’s Day and the Queen’s Jubilee.
