Pictures from the past

Nostalgia for Laura.

Nostalgia for Laura.

This week’s photograph was found being used as a bookmark in a second hand book.

Reader Louise Gillings, of Northgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, discovered it in a 1940 edition of Treasure Island, which she had bought recently from St Nicholas Hospice Care’s shop in St John’s Street, Bury.

The 33-year-old said: “It’s a nice photograph. I don’t know why someone would use it as a bookmark.”

Handwritten on the back of the picture is ‘To Jean, Happy Christmas, from Joan’.

Are you one of the youngsters in the photograph? If so, we would like to reunite you with it.

Do you have any old pictures that you would like to see published in the Bury Free Press - either personal, from a business perspective or from a sporting triumph?

You can email them to reporter Laura Smith at laura.smith@buryfreepress.co.uk or send them to Laura at the Bury Free Press.

You can also bring them in to our reception in King’s Road, Bury.

Please include a few details with your picture, along with contact details.
