Olympic pins go on sale in town
COMMEMORATIVE pins celebrating the arrival of the Rwandan Olympic team to Bury St Edmunds went on sale this week.
The Olympic team will train at The West Suffolk Athletics Arena at Abbeycroft Leisure’s Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre.
The pins – priced at £5 each, with two different designs – will be available from Bury St Edmunds Tourist Information Centre, Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre, St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds Theatre Royal, Greene King Visitors Centre, West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village and Moyse’s Hall Museum.
All money raised by the pins will go towards training equipment for the Rwandan Olympic and Paralympic athletes in preparation for London 2012.
“This is a direct way in which people in St Edmundsbury can contribute to supporting the Rwandan Olympic and Paralympic teams in the run up to London 2012, and receive a very special limited edition gift in thanks,” said Warren Smyth, chief executive of Abbeycroft Leisure.
Everyone who buys a pin will be entered into a prize draw to win lunch with the athletes and the opportunity to watch them train.
