NEEDHAM Market Town Council has elected a new mayor.

Kay Oakes was elected to the post last week, replacing Martin Spurling.

After being elected, the new mayor chose the Needham Market First Responders as her chosen charity for the year. Town councillor Steve Phillips was elected as deputy chairman and deputy mayor. Cllr Oates has served on the council for more than 10 years and was previously town council chairman and mayor in 2005/2006.
