New look for town centre as work gets under way

The design showing how Thetford's Kings Street will look under a �600,000 redevlopment scheme

WORK has started on a new look for Thetford town centre with the creation of a public square in Kings Street.

The £600,000 scheme will provide a performance stage and terrace where drama groups and bands can put on outside performances.

It will also create a pleasant open space where shoppers can relax.

Thetford town manager Susan Glossop said: “This is a very exciting opportunity for us to move Thetford forward by improving a key area of the town and the work forms part of a much wider strategy to develop and enhance our town centre.”

The work will take 15 weeks to complete and has been funded through the Moving Thetford Forward town centre regeneration scheme.
