A WOMAN who lost her twin sons 18 years ago after they were born prematurely is staging a skydive and charity run to mark what would have been their 18th birthday.

Jordan and Joshua Hales died as infants and are buried in Cotton churchyard near to their mum’s home in Thwaite.

Now Claire Bardsley, 36, wants to mark what would have been their coming of age by raising money for Ipswich Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit.

Jordan died aged just two days on March 6 while Joshua lost his battle for life aged 17 days.

Claire said she had to battle to get her babies buried locally and that while the years had passed her sons’ memories were still important.

She is now married and has two daughters Megan, nine and Natalie, three.

She will do her own personal fund-raiser with a skydive on March 3 and then take part in a charity 10-mile run from Cotton churchyard to Stowmarket Leisure Centre on March 11.

“Time does heal but there is a point especially at special events. If they were here I would have had a party for them and so I wanted to do something special,” she said.

Her family will release two sets of birthday balloons at the start of the run which will go through Mendlesham Green to Stowupland and into Stowmarket via Navigation Way. People can join the run part way along the route. To support Claire go to www.justgiving and donate through her name at sponsor a friend .
