THREE friends from Bury St Edmunds are producing a free monthly music magazine aimed at keeping people in the town up-to-date on East Anglia’s music scene.

Neil Rayson, Seymour Quigley and Joe Weaver came up with the idea for the magazine, B-Side, at the end of last year.

Its website, launched at the beginning of January, got thousands of hits after The Darkness mentioned it to their online followers, with reviews, features, podcasts and videos – for which bands will be able to play live sessions from The Shrubbery Recording Studio, in Bury.

A free printed version of the magazine will be launched next month and will be available from venues and shops across the region.

“We all grew up in Bury wishing things were happening, so we’re trying to make the things happen that we wished had when we were younger,” said Mr Quigley.

Bands are encouraged to send in their music, while reviews are wanted from writers and events listings from promoters and music venues.

B-Side is also keen to hear from artists, photographers or film-makers wanting to publish or showcase their work.
