A WEIGHT loss group shed pounds for charity last month during a sponsored slim.
Members of the Moreton Hall morning Slimming World group lost a total of 440lbs, raising £200 for St Nicholas Hospice Care, in Bury St Edmunds.
It’s ‘couple of the year’ Barbara Grimwood and daughter Julie Barford, who have collected £2,000 for the hospice in 12 months, presented the Slimming World cheque to Georgina Carr, from the hospice, on behalf of the group.
Julie, whose father died in the hospice a year ago after an illness of seven months, said: “I joined Slimming World for myself and to encourage my mum to lose weight as dad used to be her carer and she needed to be more mobile as she spent a lot of time in her wheelchair.”
Barbara said: “I’m much more mobile now and can get around with sticks. I’ve had one hip replacement and I’m back driving and tending my large garden, but my greatest pleasure has been to start playing indoor bowl again, a game I love.”
Julie will also be running in this year’s London Marathon to raise money for the hospice, in memory of her father.
