Friends’ projects succeed
Bury St Edmunds community group the Abbey Gardens Friends is seeing success with projects developed during its first year.
The results of a tree survey commissioned by the volunteer-led group have now been published.
Copies giving details of the gardens’ major trees and numbering them as a sequential walk are available for £1 from the Tourist Information Centre on Angel Hill.
The Friends, which was set up a little over a year ago and currently has around 100 members, has raised £500.
The money is being spent on a greenhouse for the Gardeners’ Yard, with plans to raise plants in it for both a woodland walk and the general benefit of the gardens.
