Five sisters who lost their mother to cancer this year are repaying the hospice which helped them when they needed it most.

Annette Berry, 49, of Leech Walk, Bury St Edmunds, died in July this year shortly after being diagnosed with cancer.

In her final two weeks, Annette was looked after by the staff at St Nicholas Hospice in Bury.

Her daughters - Kayleigh, Kimberley, Katie, Kassie and Kirsty - and widower, Michael, are holding a fund-raising night in Risby on December 1 for the charity.

Kayleigh, 26, said the hospice’s care went beyond her mother.

“They were brilliant, not just for the patients, but for the families as well.

“Anything you wanted they provided and it was just like being at home when we had to stay there. They were just so accommodating,” she said.

Annette, a partner at Little Bears pre-school in Tollgate Lane, was described as ‘bubbly, fun and kind’ by her daughters.

She was born in Malta but lived in Northumberland Avenue for 29 years before moving to Leech Walk.

Kayleigh said ticket sales for the night were going well, and they hoped to have already raised more than £1,000.
