Will Hicklin who died after a heart attack

KEEN darts player William Hicklin, from Ingham, was 64 when he died at work having suffered a heart attack.

Now, his family and darts team are hoping to raise funds in his memory to purchase life-saving defibrillators and are asking people for suggestions for where they could be best placed.

The family already has enough money for one defibrillator, raised at Mr Hicklin’s funeral.

He lived in Ingham since the age of two and was very well known in the village, its surroundings and Bury St Edmunds.

Known as Will, he worked in the building trade and played darts for more than 40 years and was well known on the local darts circuit.

His most recent team at the Royal Anglian Social Club has now organised 24-hour darts marathon at the club at the TA Centre in Newmarket Road on October 13, starting at 7pm. A donation will also be made to the Royal Anglian Benevolent Fund.

Sponsor forms and collection boxes are available at Peter Watts Domestic Appliances in Risbygate Street, Roberts Gents Hairdressers, in St John’s Street, or Compleat Office Solutions, in Mildenhall. People can make cheques to ‘Defibrillator Fund’ and leave their suggestions for any organisations who would benefit from a defibrillator at the three businesses.
