NEARLY 200 vehicles kicked it up a gear for a village car show which attracted legions of people.

Cars including classic, veteran and American could be seen at the Cars on the Green autumn show at the Academy Health and Fitness Centre, in Barrow.

It was organised by the Bury Retro Ford Club to make up for their July show in Nowton Park, which was cancelled due to heavy rain.

Organiser Charlotte Ruddock said: “This was a finale to the show sesaon so we were very pleased and impressed with the cars that attended.

“We’re quite a small club so what we achieved was fantastic.

“Without the venue the show wouldn’t have happened so we were very lucky to have been offered it.”

The successful event attracted about 200 to 300 people and funds raised from the vehicle entry fee will benefit local charities and causes.

Trophies were awarded for best vintage, retro, Ford, non-Ford, rat car and in show.

Miss Ruddock added that they were already planning their next show in July in Nowton Park.

The Bury Retro Ford Car Club meets on the third Monday of the month at the White Horse, in Beyton, at 7.30pm.

Members predominantly own Fords but they also welcome those with other makes of vehicles.
