BT seeks cabinet consent

SUPERFAST Broadband could finally come to central Bury St Edmunds, but only if residents do not object.

The Churchgate Street area was left without access to the fibre-optic service because the site planned for a connection cabinet was last summer found to be too close a pub cellar.

BT said this week: “We are currently working on the planning application for a solution as to where to place the necessary cabinet. Because this cabinet will be in a conservation area, residents have the right to object to this installation. Previous applications on alternative locations have been rejected as part of that process.”
