Awards presented at Police Cadet scheme’s first annual parade
Suffolk Police Cadets from across the county gathered in Woodbridge on Sunday, 27 January, for their first annual parade.
Police Cadets from all over Suffolk attended their first annual parade, where new flags and standards were dedicated and young people recognised for their achievements.
Chief Constable Simon Ash, Police and Crime Commissioner Tim Passmore and Tim Marks, the Mayor of St Edmundsbury, were at Sunday’s event, staged at Woodbridge School, to mark the first year of the scheme.
The cadet scheme was launched in 2011 at Martlesham and has now been rolled out to Ipswich, Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds.
Each unit is made up of 25 young people, aged 13-18, including those who aspire to join the police, but also youngsters deemed at risk of offending.
Cadet of the Year was named as Senior Cadet Luke Hall, from the Martlesham Unit.
