BEAUTIFUL blooms are blossoming at Tudor Rose Florist, in Bury St Edmunds, which opened last weekend.
The Hatter Street store is aiming to wow customers with its unusual and contemporary arrangements.

Danny Preston, 32, owner of the new shop along with business partner Pat Green, said: “We are very excited, but quite nervous and confident it will pay off.

“We hope the new store is a bit more modern looking and unusual to get away from the traditional bunches of flowers.”

Specialising in high quality flowers, Danny said he hoped the store’s range of striking orchids and citrus trees would win new fans.

Danny and Pat hope to build on the success of their first shop in Lavenham, which has proved to be a big hit since it opened five years ago.

“We want to build on our success in Bury,” Danny said. “I hope we have a good reputation and already work with the Angel Hotel, so we want to be a bit more contemporary here.”

Despite town centre traders complaining of falling footfall in the town, Danny and Pat believe the Cattle Market development will boost sales in the long run.

Danny said: “When the Cattle Market is finished it is going to bring more people into the town.

“Bury has got a nice selection of independent retailers, so shoppers expect to find more individual products.”

Buying flowers direct from growers in Holland, they plan to offer something slightly more offbeat than the usual posies and bouquets.
