Tantalising dishes, such as roasted Gressingham duck breast and strawberry soup with summer fruits, have helped The Great House Restaurant, in Lavenham, to scoop the Good Food Guide's East England Restaurant of the Year Award.
The restaurant's owner, Regis Crépy, who also owns Maison Bleue, in Bury St Edmunds, and Il Punto, in Ipswich, said: "I'm very happy that we have won this award and I think it is very well deserved.

"Our success is down to the whole restaurant team, which has worked very hard, as well as the professional service and value for money we offer.

"We are extremely grateful to everybody who nominated us and I have my fingers crossed that we will go on to win the national award."

The Great House, which was nominated by customers, will now feature in the new 2009 edition of The Good Food Guide, which will be published in September.

The overall Restaurant of the Year will be chosen by the Good Food Guide team from the list of the 10 regional winners and will be announced on June 17.
