A lucky driver from Christian Salvesen transport company, in Bury St Edmunds, has won a new car – thanks to his excellent attendance.
Robert Allen, 37, was presented with keys to a new Vauxhall Astra, having had just two days off sick since 2001.

Mr Allen, of Newthorpe, in Rougham, said: "I was speechless when they told me, I felt like I had won the Lottery.

"I was so delighted when they gave me the keys."

Mr Allen, who has worked at the firm, based on the Saxham Business Park, Saxham, for seven years, was entered into the draw for the car with 2,168 other employees with spotless attendance records.

In a random selection, Mr Allen was chosen as one of two employees to win a car, which he has now sold to fund a family holiday to the Dominican Republic.

"I quite enjoy my job really," Mr Allen said. "When you have commitments, you can't really afford to have time off."

Paul Bateman, branch manager, said he was proud of Mr Allen's achievement.

He said: "It is quite prestigious to win the car.

"He's the ideal employee and it is good it has been recognised."
