London cool and class has arrived in Bury St Edmunds in the shape of the extended Javelin clothing store.

Last Friday, Javelin store owner Jeremy Clayton cut the red ribbon at a launch party at the Abbeygate Street shop, where guests were treated to a Champagne reception and an exclusive look at the new items on offer.

In January, Javelin acquired the old Strides lingerie premises and spent seven weeks refitting the shop.

The interior walls have been uncovered to reveal original brickwork and beams, reclaimed doors have been used for the fitting rooms and reclaimed railway sleepers have been used to create clothing rails and stands.

New labels, accessories and jewellery have been added to the shop's existing ranges.

Mr Clayton said: "We have created a shop with lots of personality and individuality.

"The team has worked incredibly hard so we could open on time and it looks great.

"We now carry more labels and there is much more space, meaning we can bring a bit of London cool and class to Bury."

The new extension houses women's fashions, jewellery and accessories while the old ground floor stocks men's fashions.

The first floor will stock labels such as Vivienne Westwood, Dolce and Gabbana and Paul and Joe.
