The winners of Haverhill Rock Competition 2007 are returning a year on to help to unearth the next champions.
Winning the rock competition has opened new doors to AlicebanD who have had a manic year travelling all over the country.

The band, based in Thaxted, have since decided to slow the pace a little and take more time deciding where they play.

AlicebanD describe themselves as a mix of alternative, indie and folk rock and are lead vocalist and keyboard player Alice Walker; her father and trumpet player Tom Walker; drummer and guitarist Ned Gray, bassist and percussion player Warren Woodcraft and backing singer Coral Dunlop.

The new line-up has been together for about seven months and now vary their music between folk and rock.

Alice said: "We have all got the same ambition to be a successful band, so it works better.

"Before the competition, we just played small open mic nights but now we are playing bigger venues.

"It has opened up a whole lot of new places to play."

Haverhill still remains one of the band's favourite places to play as they have built up a fan base there, but they are also concentrating on playing gigs in London and Cambridge.

The band's influences are vast, ranging from Alanis Morrisette and Bob Dylan to The Beatles and Faith No More.

AlicebanD will be returning to Haverhill for the rock competition final on Saturday and you can hear them in action at the Vixen, in Haverhill, on Friday.
