Just eight months after they got together, a band has broken into national radio and recorded a live session at the renowned Maida Vale Studios, in London.
The Kabeedies quickly got their name circulating in the region by winning the Next Big Thing Competition in November 2007 in front of around 600 people at the University of East Anglia.

Before long, they were being contacted by some big names in the industry and earlier this year they were given the opportunity to record three tracks for BBC Radio One's Huw Stephens at the legendary studios.

The band, which is now set to play in Bury St Edmunds, is made up of drummer Fab Bell, 18, from Lowestoft, bassist and vocalist Rory Hill, 16, from Norwich, guitarist and vocalist Evan Jones, 17, from Woodbridge, and vocalist Katie Allard, 18, from Norwich.

Evan said: "Going to Maida Vale was the best thing as we were playing at a studio where people like the White Stripes have recorded. It's bizarre when you think only a year a go we were deciding whether we wanted to be in a band.

"We have had some excellent feedback and now we are working to keep the pot boiling by gigging lots and just trying to keep contact with anyone we come across in a hope that we can get somewhere."

The Kabeedies have played across the country, including London's Barfly, Brighton, Guildford, Lincoln and Sheffield.

They have also played alongside such big names as the Future-heads and the Metros.

On April 9, they will play live on air on BBC Radio Six Music.
Despite a packed schedule, The Kabeedies, who describe their music as 'rubbish pop', have also found time to record their debut single, Lovers Ought To, which is due to be released by Cherryade Records on April 21.

Catch the band play at Studio 3, on Station Hill, Bury, on Friday, March 28, part of Bald Monkey Promotions, or, to find out more, visit www.myspace.com/thekabeedies
