Fordham Festival was first held in 2004 and, now in its fifth year, includes more than 50 bands over three days with something for everyone.

But the event was not always as big. It began when Mark Autney was travelling home from London and stopped to help a biker – Doug Boyce – whose machine had broken down.

Conversations of gigs with Mark's partner Angela Lee soon turned into suggestions of festivals and before they knew it, they were in the middle of a field holding their first festival surrounded by 700 people and listening to a host of bands.

Angela said: "It just went absolutely phenomenally and everyone had a brilliant time. It's just snowballed.

"We couldn't do it without so many people's help and without the people that have supported us from the beginning."

The team, with Steve Spall, hold the event to raise money for Cam Mind and this year will split proceeds with the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT).

Angela said: "I just feel there needs to be more awareness of mental health as people do judge it and some people can't help it."

Fordham Festival runs from August 7 to 10, off the B1102 Fordham to Burwell road, and now includes a large orbit stage.

The line-up also includes bands from the region such as Roxoff, Timefall, Thee Vicars and Long Bone Trio.
