As this year's battle of the bands competition in Bury St Edmunds rapidly approaches, the bands for heat one have been announced.
Amberlight, Head-Full, Luv Dump and Suicide Dollz will all be lapping up the attention of the crowd at BurySOUND 2008.

Gig-goers will witnesses a great mix of funk, rock, punk and metal as the bands go head-to-head to compete for a place in the final.

Amberlight formed in April 2008 and were originally born as Feline Monsters at West Suffolk College, in Bury, but the line-up has changed to leave vocalist and guitarist Alex Leacey, bassist Anthony Bedford and drummer Chris Barrs.

The band members have all played in different bands before but were not happy with the style of music, so they got together to write some 'head banging rock songs' under the label of rock/alternative.

Head-Full have also had a name change after they found a new lead singer Casey Chick. They were originally formed as Unknown Discoveries in early 2007.

Other members of the Bury-based quartet, who describe themselves as an energetic funk band with a classic twist, include guitarist Dan Franklin, bassist Stephen Withers and drummer Chloe Robinson-Smith.

Luv Dump is a punk band with a SKA and reggae twist and have been featured in Band Spotlight before after they formed in August 2007. They have just recorded a selection of tracks.

Sadly, their guitarist Matt Hoffden has recently left the group, leaving four members – vocalist Chris Staples, guitarist and vocalist Chris Long, bassist Jake Leppard and drummer Aaron Boast.

Finally, the Suicide Dollz are sure to wow the crowd with their dedication to bringing back real rock 'n' roll with their influences of hard rock, classic rock and metal.

They formed in 2007 and won a high school battle of the bands competition. Members include guitarist Tom Rose, vocalist and guitarist Tyger Joe O'Conner-Hendrick, bassist Ray Wilby and drummer Ben Sims.

All four bands are preparing to perform at the Corn Exchange, in Bury, on October 17. Doors open at 7.15pm, tickets cost £4 and are available from Hardcore Hobbies or Sounds Plus, in Bury, or for more information visit www.stedmunds bury.gov.uk/sebc/play/burysound.cfm
